Privacy Policy

Effective: May 24, 2026

Draft notice: this privacy policy is a working draft pending review by counsel. It describes our current practices accurately but should be formally reviewed before serious commercial volume.

Who we are

Coastline Labs (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website at coastlinelabs.co. We sell research-use compounds for laboratory applications. Questions about this policy can be sent to Coastlinelabsoc@gmail.com.

What we collect

When you place an order or contact us, we collect:

  • Name (first and last)
  • Email address
  • Phone number (optional)
  • Shipping address
  • Order details (items, quantities, totals)
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited (collected automatically by our hosting provider)
  • Local browser storage (cart contents, age-gate confirmation) — stored only on your device, not on our servers

We do not collect Social Security numbers, government IDs, medical information, or payment-card numbers (all payments are processed by third parties — see below).

How we use it

  • To process and fulfill your orders
  • To send order confirmations and shipment updates
  • To respond to questions or inquiries
  • To improve the website and prevent fraud
  • To comply with legal obligations

Who we share it with

We share the minimum data necessary with the following service providers:

  • Resend — sends transactional emails (order confirmations, contact-form messages). Receives your name and email.
  • Vercel — hosts the website. Receives IP/browser data automatically as part of serving pages.
  • Venmo — currently used for payment. You interact with Venmo directly; we do not see your bank or card details.
  • Shipping carriers (e.g., USPS) — receive your name and address to deliver orders.

We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or data brokers.

Cookies and tracking

We do not currently use third-party advertising trackers (no Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics, etc.). The site uses minimal browser local storage for shopping cart persistence and the 21-and-over age-gate confirmation.

Your rights

If you are a California resident, you have the right under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) to:

  • Know what personal information we have about you
  • Request that we delete it
  • Opt out of any future sale of your information
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights

Residents of other states with similar laws (Colorado, Virginia, Connecticut, Utah, and others) have substantially similar rights. EU/UK residents have rights under GDPR.

To exercise any of these rights, email Coastlinelabsoc@gmail.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.”

Children's privacy

This site is restricted to users 21 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us and we will delete it.

Data security

We use HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. Our hosting and email providers maintain industry-standard security practices. No internet transmission is ever 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
